be a man macbeth

1. Lady Macbeth: "If much you note him
You shall offend him and extend his passion
Feed and regard him not
Are you a man?" Act 3 scene 4 Lines 68-72
Context: Lady Macbeth says this quote when she starts to see Banquo.  She is basically losing her mind and going crazy.  When she sees Banquo she starts acting very odd and not like herself.  She takes Macbeth aside from everything and she asks him if he is a man.
Interpret:  In the book it says only Macbeth can see Banquo so when Lady Macbeth sees Banquo then things get reall weird and she starts going crazy so she ask Macbeth questions on how he is manly and if he is a man.

2.  "Come, you spirits
That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here,
And fill me from the crown to the toe top-full
Of direst cruelty. Make thick my blood.
Stop up th' access and passage to remorse," (Act 1, Scene 5, Lines 47-51
Context:  This quote is being said by Lady Macbeth and she is basically saying that if Macbeth doesn't kill the king then she will have to and shes asking for manly things to help her if Macbeth doesn't man up and do it himself.
Interpret:  Lady Macbeth is saying this quote to the spirits so that they can give her qualities she needs to succeed in killing the king if Macbeth doesn't do it.  One of the qualitys she needs to get is cruelty so that she can kill the king.  With that quality she would succeed.

3. Fit to govern?
No, not to live.—O nation miserable,
With an untitled tyrant bloody-sceptered,
When shalt thou see thy wholesome days again,
Since that the truest issue of thy throne
By his own interdiction stands accursed,
And does blaspheme his breed?—Thy royal father
Was a most sainted king. The queen that bore thee,
Oftener upon her knees than on her feet,
Died every day she lived. Fare thee well!
These evils thou repeat’st upon thyself
Have banished me from Scotland.—O my breast,
Thy hope ends here!
(act 4, scene 3, lines 120-132)
Context:  This quote is being said to Macduff by Malcom and Malcom tells him he does not want to be king.  Macduff doesnt like it when Malcom says this because Malcom is the prince and therefore he should be the king.  He gets really angry and tells him he isn't even right for the possition of the king.  He also tells Malcom that he will have to flee scottlan cause he can't stand the fact of Macbeth being king.
Interpret:  This quote represents that men don't give up easily and can show extreme feelings towards things.  It shows they won't give up with out a fight.  When Macduff gets mad at Malcom it shows his feelings toward scottland and how he wants a good leader for the country.

4.  "Which the false man does say I'll to England"
(Act 2 Scene 4 lines 162-163)

Context:  This quote is said when Malcom and his brother are fleeing after there father died.
Interpret:  This quote show that Malcom and his brother were not being men because they were running away from there problems instead of solving them.

5.  "They have tied me to a stake. I cannot fly, but, bear-like, I must fight the course. What’s he that was not born of woman? Such one am I to fear, or none"
(Act 5 Scene 7 Line 1)
Context:  This quote is being said when Macbeth is falling apart and theres no hope for him.  So Macbeth decides to fight and in the end he falls and he dies.
Interpret: Macbeth decides to fight untill death because he feels thats what a man would do.

odyssey theme

The theme in the Odyssey is to always be loyal to your leader and to always do what the say and respect them.  Your leader can get you through alot of bad things almost anything and if you are disloyal that doesn't go to well with your leader and it will blow up in your face and you might die because of it.  I think this theme is present in alot of the books in the Odyssey and I feel it is the most important theme that coulod apply to real life.

In book 12 Odysseus lead his men through many difficult adventures and they have to perform specific tests to survive.  Without there leader I dont think Odysseus men would be able to get past all of these obstacles.  Odysseus and his crew reach Thrinancia but they are stuck on the island for a month.  Odysseus tells his men not to touch the cattle but they men are stuck on the island for so long they are tempted to eat the cows because they are starving.  So eventually the crew touch the cows and they get killed by zeus.  This shows that you need to listen to your leaders or else it will get back at you in the end.  A quote about this is on page 281 line 349.  If the crew would have listened to their leader Odysseus then they wouldn't have died.

In book 19 Odysseus returns to his town and disguises himself as a begger.  He does this so he can test the loyalty of the suitors and his wife.  His wife stays loyal to him but the suitors don't.  They all want to marry his wife and they just have been overall very disloyal to Odysseus.  Disloyalty doesn't go down well with Odysseus so when they have the contest for Penalopope Odysseus wins it disguised as a begger but changes back into himself.  Then him and his son kill all of the disloyal suitors.  A quote that represents this is on page 391 lines 47 to 48.  This is also another example of how if you are disloyal and dont listen to your leader then you will be killed or there will be other severe consequences.

Randy's Back

In recent sports news the Minnesota Vikings aquired ex England Patriot and 7 time Pro
Bowl wide reciever Randy Moss.  For most Minnesota fans this is a great trade because Randy could be a very important addition to our team.  But we all know that Randy has a bit of an attitude problem and some fans don't think he will help the Vikings succeed.  I think that it is a risky trade for the Vikings.  My first point is that Randy has left all of the teams he has played for on bad terms.  He left the Vikings in 2005 and that year he had an incident with a police officer.  He left the Raiders in 2007 and he just left the Patriots because of contract issues.  Another point i have is that Randy could be defined as a distraction to the other players on his team.  He walked of the field before the game concluded and he has had trouble with the law before.  These things would characterize Randy as a distraction because of all the drama that he gets into, and it could tear the Vikings organization apart which would result in a unsuccessful 2010 season.  My final point in why getting Randy on the Vikings is a risky move is that he has the reputation of not going 100%.  An example of this is he had contract issues with the Patriots and his last game as a Patriot he was held without a catch and he just felt sorry for himself.  This shows how when things are going his way he is unstoppable force but when things are down he plays like a 3rd string wide reciever.  I feel trading for Moss would be a dangerous thing to do.  I think that the organization will impacted negativley with the addition to Randy Moss being on the squad. If we didn't aquire him I think we would be more successful this year and future years because once Farve leaves Randy will be worthless and his attitude problem will kick in again I think this because he has left all his teams on bad terms, he is a distraction, and he doesn't try 100%.

opinion

People say the word gay or fag a lot in our school.  Many of these people are just joking around with their friends when they are saying this but some people feel discriminated against when they hear these words being used which can lead into suicidal thoughts.  Suicide doesn't solve anything it just leaves the people that care about you heartbroken.  I dont think we should use the words fag or gay because they are very hurtful words to some people.  An example of this was when Tyler Clementi a student at Rutgers University killed himself because his room mate Dharun Ravi put a camera in his room and streamed live video on to the internet of Clementi kissing a dude. I think that we should all be treated with respect and we should be able to keep things private that we don't want to be public.  It's such an invasion of privacy to do such a thing that Ravi did.  The fact that Tyler killed himself because of all this too should increase the punishment.  I think he deserves to serve several years in prison.  In our world today some people say words such as fag or gay and it doesn't take any meaning to them.  But when some people hear these words the get suicidal thoughts.  So we should stop throwing those words out there cause most of us don't see the real meaning behind them.

weezy's journey

Lil Wayne had a unique birth he was born on September 27, 1982 in New Orleans, Lousiana.  New Orleans was a high crime area at that time and still is today.  Dwayne's father divorced his mother and left him when he was only 2. (Special Birth). http://rap.about.com/od/artists/p/LilWayne.htm   In the Summer of 1991 Lil Wayne was introduced to Bryan Williams aka Birdman a rapper and owner of Cash Money Records.  Bryan served as a mentor to young carter and helped him develop the skills he needed to succeed in the rap business.  Dwayne was soon adopted by the famous rapper Birdman and made several hits.  He was 15 when he was adopted. (Atonement with Father) (Supernatural Guide)  http://www.chacha.com/question/what-age-did-bird-man-adopt-lil-wayne  Dwayne wrote his 1st rhyme when he was 8.  At age 15 Lil Wayne joined the rap group called Hot Boys and he was the youngest member in the group. (Call of Adventure)   http://www.starpulse.com/Music/Lil_Wayne/Biography/   He knew that once he got into the rap game that there was no turning back the only way he was going is forward.  He would soon produce several successful albums.  (Belly of the Walehttp://www.biography.com/articles/Lil-Wayne-369134   When Dwayne was 13 his step father was convicted for 6 months and had to serve that time behind bars.  When he got out he was abducted and killed.  Wayne was also a Honor student but he dropped out of High School.  (Test/Ordeals/Hero Deeds)  http://www.spiritus-temporis.com/lil-wayne/      Dwayne's current rap group is called Young Money, which consists of 12 other amazing Hip Hop/ Rap artists.  These artists include Tyga, T-Streets, Short Dawg, Shanell, Nicki Minaj, Mack Maine, Lil Twist, Lil Chuckie, Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda, Cory Gunz, and Drake.  These would all be considered Hero Partners but I think that Bryan Williams aka Birdman was really the most influential person in his life because he really completed his music because Birdman and Lil wayne had several hit songs an example would be Stunnin Like My Daddy which reached number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100.  (Hero Partners)   http://www.lilwaynehq.com/young-money-entertainment/   As Lil Wayne became more famous he got alot more attention from the females but he choose to stay on this road and work on his rhymes.  (Woman as Temptation)  http://www.biography.com/articles/Lil-Wayne-369134 His ultimate boon is the tattoo he has that says Young Money which is his rap group.  (Ultimate Boonhttp://cache.deadspin.com/assets/images/deadspin/2008/06/jennings_young_money.jpg   The Hero has the freedom to live and produce new tracks that will please us all.  He just released a new album called "I am not a Human Being".  (Freedom to live)

I choose to compare Doug from the Blue Diamond to Luke from Star Wars because i feel the both see a lot of the parts of the heroes path.  They both encounter different hero journeys but I think that they would both be considered heroes.  Luke's journey consists of fighting in battles and Doug's journey is all about him trying to convince his best friend not to commit suicide.  As you can see these are to totally different paths which result in the Hero having to face these challenges differently.  This demonstrates my point that Luke and Doug encounter different paths but they are both Heroes.  Another point i have is.  Unlike Luke Doug has no mentor or guide in his journey to help him succeed.  You don't always need a guide to succeed.  Luke's guide is Obi-Wan and Obi helps Luke to succeed on his mission. But Doug has no mentor or guide he has no help no Hero partners or anything and he also comes in to his mission completely blind not even knowing what he is up against.  This represents my point that you don't always need a guide or mentor to succeed on your mission and that you can do anything if you put your mind to it.  A guide is very helpful though.  A point i have that contrasts the two Heros is that the both get into dangerous situations to save people.  Luke has to fight several battles to save the princess and the Jedis.  Doug has to drive all the way to Las Vegas and when they are there a guy sells them a diamond and he could have killed Quinn and Doug.  I am saying that Heroes are usually very brave like Doug and Luke.  If they lack courage then I feel they wouldn't be successful.  In conclusion Luke and Doug are both Heroes but they have very different Hero journeys.  Luke had a mentor and he had a couple Hero partners and Doug had to take on the challenge by himself without any Hero partners or mentors.  Luke and Doug both got into dangerous situations to save there friends.  These are all elments of the Heroes journy and it shows that Luke and Doug encountered many of these tasks.
